I am one of the founding partners of North Star Criminal Defense. I represent clients facing criminal charges throughout the State of Minnesota, including but not limited to, DUIs, Expungements, Assaults, Domestic Assaults, Thefts, Shoplifting, Weapons Charges, Criminal Vehicular Operation, Damage to Property, Drug Crimes, Misdemeanors, Gross Misdemeanors, Felonies, Traffic Violations, Probation Violations, and Vehicle Forfeitures.

Our approach to each client is threefold: (1) we develop a personalized legal strategy that accounts for both the criminal and collateral consequences each client faces; (2) we are Not Always Minnesota Nice when fighting for our clients; and (3) we pride ourselves in offering unmatched client care.

I focus part of my practice on expungements and helping petitioners get the second chance they deserve. To this end, I am a volunteer expungements attorney at a number of organizations. And I developed and maintain www.mnexpungements.com as a one-stop site for individuals looking to learn more about the new expungements law.

I am a volunteer for the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans, where I volunteer at monthly walk-in clinics and the annual StandDown Event - a two day event where more than a thousand veterans were served. I also volunteer for the Hennepin County Bar Association at the Legal Access Point walk-in clinics at the Government Center.

I am an active member in the Minnesota State Bar Association - Criminal Law section. And I am a member of the Minnesota Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

We develop a personalized legal strategy for each client after we take the time to learn about the client and what's at stake. We understand that collateral consequences - such as the possibility of losing your job or driver's license - are sometimes more penal than the criminal consequences you may be facing. This is why we take the time to develop a strategy that is unique to you and will serve you best.
I graduated with honors from William Mitchell College of Law in 2008, finishing in the top 7% of my class.
Minnesota State Bar Association - council member for the Criminal Law section and for the Solo/Small Firm section.
In addition to representing clients facing serious criminal consequences over the past several years, I was also a prosecutor for a local jurisdiction. This experience bodes well for my clients, as I have a thorough understanding and skill to see the case through the State's eyes as I prepare your defense strategy.
