Responsible for day-to-day administration and implementation of MSBA policies and programs, with direct supervision of staff groups providing online member services, support for sections, coordination of the MSBA legislative efforts, and Nine Days in June. Tim has been with the MSBA since 1978.
Associate Executive Director
Fills in for Executive Director as needed; assists Executive Director in keeping bar leaders appraised of association activities. Provides direct supervision of staff groups in the areas of finance, membership, communications, operations, and public services. Nancy has been with the MSBA since 2004.
Member Services Manager
Manages MSBAdvantage, including promotion of programs to members; coordination with participating vendors; development of sales projections, strategies, and budgets; and is the staff liaison to the Insurance for Members Committee. Assists with implementation of annual retention and recruitment campaigns at the direction of the Marketing Director and manages annual law firm billing process. Kameena has been with the MSBA since 2006.
Section Services Manager
Serves as section liaison; handles section coordination activities such as: preparing and distributing meeting notices, handling catering and general registration needs, tracking section CLE credits for participants of section programs; designs newsletters; and updates the sections’ web pages at the direction of and according to the quality standards set by the Director of Section Services. Kim has been with the MSBA since 2003.
Membership Outreach Manager
Develops and implements an outreach strategy and tactical plan to achieve retention and recruitment goals according to plans approved by the Marketing Director. Nicole has been with the MSBA since 2009.

Program Service Coordinator
Coordinates activities of the Civic Education Committee including: Constitution Day, Presidents Day, Traveling Oral Arguments and Law Day. Serves as staff liaison and handles section coordination activities. Coordinates portions of Mock Trial and registration for Nine Days in June. Works with the Minnesota State Bar Foundation achieving their contracted staffing needs. Maintains mnfindalawyer.org. Jennifer has been with the MSBA since 2011.
Karol Engstrom Narum
Online Media Director
Responsible for all aspects of Legal News Digest. Responsible for enhancing online services such as mnfindalawyer.com and Colleague. Responsible for setting and achieving online advertising goals. Designs promotional materials, writes promotional text, and press releases. Karol has been with the MSBA since 1999.
Web Services Director
Oversees all aspects of the MSBA website, coordinating efforts by Web Services staff and providing support for web pages maintained by individual Bar staff and groups. Facilitates web postings at practicelaw.org. Develops, tests, and maintains document assembly libraries contained in the MSBA members-only mndocs system. Dick has been with the MSBA since 1991.
Director of Section Services
Develops and oversees services provided to the MSBA’s 36 sections to ensure sections achieve their goals. Develops and communicates guidelines for sections to follow to ensure they meet and/or exceed minimum standards for maintaining section status. Elyse has been with the MSBA since 2007.
Assistant to the Executive Director
Serves as the primary contact for Assembly members. Manages Assembly meetings including drafting the agenda, preparing and distributing meeting materials, and editing the minutes. Coordinates elections and nominations made by the Assembly. Drafts Council meeting agendas, prepares materials, and takes minutes. Works with the President and Executive Director to plan the Bar Leader Conference. Responsible for Nine Days in June. Joni has been with the MSBA since 1996.
Sets annual membership retention and recruitment goals and develops marketing strategies, initiatives, and tactics to achieve those goals. Develops an annual communications plan that effectively raises members’ awareness of communicated tangible and intangible benefits. Gerry has been with the MSBA since 2011.
Director of Finance
Prepares and maintains annual and re-projected budgets. Supervises preparation of annual audit by outside accounting firm. Prepares financial statements, projections and reports, and payroll. Oversees the processing of annual dues payments for MSBA, districts and their foundations, sections, and the Minnesota State Bar Foundation. Maintains annual billing statistics. Tim has been with the MSBA since 1995.
Gathers, assesses, recommends, and develops new content for substantive areas of law; develops and maintains resources for attorneys, such as forms, checklists, retainer agreements, and other practice management materials for practicelaw.org. Andrea has been with the MSBA since 2009.
Director of Publications
Editor of Bench & Bar. Works to promote member involvement with Bench & Bar, as readers and as contributors. Jud has been with the MSBA since 1984.
Access to Justice Director
Coordinates the interaction between the MSBA legislative program and the Minnesota Legal Services Coalition’s legislative agenda; facilitates cooperation between legal services programs and national, state and local bar associations; works to secure funding for volunteer and staff legal services programs; reports to the Associate Executive Director for direct supervision with additional input provided by the Coalition through its project directors on MLSC contract work; serves as staff liaison to the LAD and Pro Se Implementation Committees, and works to expand and promote projusticemn.org. Steve has been with the MSBA since 2006.
Develops long-term plans and strategies for practicelaw.org content development and maintenance; gathers, assesses, and develops content or works with a team to achieve goals. Promotes practicelaw.org to increase member awareness and use. Nancy has been with the MSBA since 2005.
Government Relations Director
Provides a broad range of lobbying services; coordinates MSBA’s legislative response to: uniform laws, proposals developed by law-related organizations, and proposals developed by other organizations; and regularly communicates legislative developments to members. Bryan has been with the MSBA since 2009.
Pro Bono Development Director
Develops and promotes pro bono services; recruits and retains volunteer attorneys; develops policy positions related to pro bono programs; assists local volunteer pro bono programs; and serves as liaison to the Legal Assistance to the Disadvantaged Committee and as Executive Director of MVAP. Steve has been with the MSBA since 2009.
Practicelaw.org Production Manager
Develops and manages the workflow process of assigned projects, moving projects from concept stage through completion stage; designs forms and documents; manages practicelaw.org site and scheduled changes; and maintains scheduled content. Leslie has been with the MSBA since 2007.
Diane Ostman & Dianne Kemp
Receptionist & Project Assistant
Directs caller inquiries internally and to outside agencies to expedite the appropriate response. Assists Director of Finance and other staff with special projects. Diane and Dianne have been with the MSBA since 2011.
Coordinates specific aspects of the four certification programs. Kim has been with the MSBA since 2010.
Manages the MSBA’s diversity efforts. Oversees the annual committee appointment process; handles inquiries from members about joining committees. Serves as section liaison and handles section coordination activities. Responsible for aspects of the Assembly meetings and responds to data requests from district officers. Tram has been with the MSBA since 1999.
Tamara L. Patton
Section Services Manager
Serves as staff liaison; creates materials for workshops and handles section coordination activities, such as: preparing and distributing meeting notices, handling catering and general registration needs, tracking section CLE credits for participants of section programs; designs newsletters; and updates the sections’ web pages at the direction of and according to the quality standards set by the Director of Section Services. Tamara has been with the MSBA since 2010.
Performs duties related to member billing, section accounts, subscriptions, and Minnesota State Bar Foundation according to quality standards set by the Director of Finance. Laura has been with the MSBA since 1997.
Styles word processing files into finished galleys and lays out articles, advertisements, photos, and illustrations within the established design of Bench & Bar; responsible for other aspects of production as well. Sets annual goals for classified advertising revenue and manages budget to achieve those goals; develops and produces materials to promote and support the sale of advertising; assists advertisers with advertising production and revision inquiries. Jennifer has been with the MSBA since 2010.
Human Resources Director
Manages hiring process; administers employee benefits; promotes positive employee relations; maintains and updates personnel records and office policies and procedures; oversees capital expenditure process and operations and facility management. Denise has been with the MSBA since 1979.
Mock Trial Manager
Develops and revises the Mock Trial rules of competition, rules of evidence, and suggestions for teaching participants; promotes Mock Trial Program to schools and other educational networks; serves as a liaison to teacher and attorney coaches; schedules trials, works with court administrators and district/local bar representatives; develops training workshops for teachers and attorney coaches and volunteer attorney judges; recruits and oversees volunteer judge recruitment process; ensures overall goals of Mock Trial Program are met. Emily has been with the MSBA since 2006.
Practice Development Director
Develops long-term plans and strategies for the MSBA’s online services. Considers use of new technology to make delivery of online services more efficient and effective. Bob has been with the MSBA since 2011.
Responsible for all aspects of the four Certification programs including initiating activities to explain and promote the programs; develops and maintains a central system for administering the programs; administers the application, exams, and recertification processes; works closely with program councils; ensures compliance with state requirements; and develops and maintains the website. Jessica has been with the MSBA since 2008.
Assists the Human Resources Director with items related to personnel, training, database management, and office administration. Responsible for updating membership database and maintaining the database reporting function. Rosanne has been with the MSBA since 2003.
Director of Technology
Responsible for maintaining the MSBA network, including: staying current with technology; repairing and updating computer equipment when appropriate to reduce outsource expenses, remaining current on information use and sharing among lawyers, clients, and members; evaluating suggestions of staff and members and making recommendations based on those suggestions. Responsible for the Court Opinion Program. Mike has been with the MSBA since 1997.
W. Holly Wu
Online Services Manager
Researches new approaches to electronic communications and services, including, but not limited to, database integration, interactive pages, and content management; recommends new approaches; implements approved approaches; designs “sub-sites” to serve MSBA programs; assists staff with questions related to web authoring software; develops pages and manages files for mnbar websites; contributes to long-range planning for mnbar websites. Holly has been with the MSBA since 2003.
