Committees
The Assembly has five committees to assist in the development of policy
and recommendations. Unless specifically approved by the Assembly, members
of Assembly committees must be members of the Assembly.
The committees and their duties are:
Elections/Appointments - Study and make recommendations related
to the election of officers, representatives to the Council, LawPAC trustees,
Minnesota State Bar Foundation Board members, and nominees to outside
boards.
Upcoming Elections
General Policy - Study and make recommendations related to MSBA positions on public policy;
petitions to the court regarding the operation of the courts and the regulation
of the practice of law; referendum of the MSBA membership; and reports
of MSBA sections and committees. more info
Governance - Study
and make recommendations relating to sections, affiliated organizations,
standing and ad hoc committees as well as new Assembly committees; and
select the location of the annual convention and supervise convention
planning.
Legislative - Study and make recommendations related to legislative and lobbying priorities,
and approve requests to establish official MSBA positions. more info
Operations - Study and make recommendations relating to the annual
budget of the Association, including membership dues. As a part of the
budget process, the committee will review current member programs and
make recommendations regarding those programs. The Committee will also
study and make recommendations related to section dues, the long range
plan, and services and benefits provided to the membership.
