Statement from the MSBA | Wednesday, June 16, 2010

The MSBA is shocked and saddened by the recent assault on Terri Melcher, a Fridley family law attorney.

The attack on Terri in the course of her representation of a client is an attack on both an individual, and an attack on our system of justice. Every day, lawyers engage in the resolution of disputes many of which are highly charged with emotions. This incident highlights an extreme circumstance of work in this climate.

We want Terri to know that the thoughts and wishes of the members of the MSBA are with her. We have witnessed a tremendous outpouring of support for Terri. As she works on her recovery, she should know that the MSBA and the legal community of Minnesota are here to support her.
