- MSBA Delegation Heading to Israel. After hosting a successful study trip to Cuba last October, the Minnesota State Bar Association is organizing a delegation to visit Israel, with an optional extension to Jordan at no cost to the Association. Go to MSBA

- Grant deadline approaching for MN State Bar Foundation. The Minnesota State Bar Foundation is a foundation of the MSBA and exists for the express purpose of providing monetary grants to community and bar law-related programs and activities. The deadline for submitting grant applications for the next cycle is 5:00 p.m. on Feb. 15. Go to MN State Bar Foundation

- Nominations Sought for MSBA David Graven Public Service Award. The MSBA Council is seeking nominees for the 2011 David Graven Award. The awards are presented to the lawyer who best exemplifies the high standards of the profession in combination with a commitment to public or community service. Nominations are due March 2, 2012. - American Indians and Civil Rights. Federal Magistrate Judge Leo Brisbois will outline historical moments in the law which have affected civil rights for American Indians and Prof. Ann Tweedy will discuss the impact of the sovereignty doctrine, tribes' status under the constitution, and how majority fears about Indian peoples and tribes' special status have influenced the development of civil rights for American Indians. This CLE will take place on March 23 at Hamline School of Law.

- State Tax Nexus - No Presence Required. Join the Tax Law Section to hear a discussion of state tax nexus standards across the country. - Global Health Justice: Towards a Framework Convention on Global Health. The Hamline University Health Law Institute will present its National Speaker Series called "Global Health Justice: Towards a Framework Convention on Global Health." - Intercarrier Compensation Reform Under the FCC's Connect America Fund Order. Presenters at this CLE will outline the intercarrier compensation provisions adopted by the FCC in its Connect America Fund Order, and discuss the Order's impact on the telecommunications industry generally as well as its specific impact on intercarrier negotiations, arbitrations and litigation going forward.
