Labor and Employment Certification FAQs When is the exam? October 2, 2010. The deadline for applying is September 7. Click here for the form. How long is the exam? 3 ½ hours. The exam may be handwritten or you may use a laptop computer. There is an additional $55 fee to use the ExamSoft software interface. What will be on it? There are three questions and examinees will have to answer 2 of the 3. Two of the questions are general employment law questions. One question is a labor law question. Questions may be answered from either an employer/employee-employer/union perspective. Who grades the exams? Each examination will be graded against the model answers by a team of two Certification Board members. Is there a prep course available? Yes, Minnesota CLE offered one on August 9 and 10.
