most significant appellate caes over the last year. If you have not kep
current with developments in Minnesota case law, this is your opportunity to
catch up. Presenters include Judge John Rodenberg, Minnesota Court of
Appeals, Peter Marker, Assistant Ramsey County Attorney, and Robin Wolpert, MSBA
President-Elect.
10:00-11:00 So you want to be a Judge: This "You Can Be A Judge" seminar
is designed to encourage and inform those who may be considering applying for a
position on the district court bench. Panelists will include recent
judicial appointees, members of the Commission on Judicial Selection, and a
member of the Governor's Office staff, who will present practical information
and recommendations about the selection process. Topics will
include: 1) The role of the Commission on Judicial Selection; 2)
Application procedures for applying for a district judgeship opening; 3)
Panelist thoughts on basic qualifications for serving on the bench, as well as
resume and interview preparation; 4) Ethical responsibilities; and 5) Practical
information on panelist experiences serving on the bench.
