CLE
Program: Legislative Review
With a $1.6 billion dollar surplus in
Minnesota's coffers, presumably the state legislature could wrap up business in
a timely fashion. While the early weeks of the session brought a quick agreement
on health care insurance premium relief, finding a solution to the overall
budget remains elusive. With one week left in the session, Governor Mark Dayton,
House Speaker Kurt Daudt, and Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka met for the
Governor's fishing opener on a boat in the Mississippi. With the weekend
spent fishing, negotiating final budget details will come down to the final hours.
At this program, veteran healthcare lobbyist Phil Griffin
will provide a rundown of the 90th Minnesota Legislature and ponder the
likelihood of a special session and/or government shutdown.
