USING DRONES IN CONSTRUCTION: Above the ground but not above the law

Event Description

Deadline to Register: September 8, 2016

As the commercial use of unmanned aerial systems becomes more prevalent due the FAA's recent rule relaxing the requirements for those users, many property rights and privacy questions remain.  Dan Wennogle will discuss the interplay between federal regulation of unmanned aerial systems and the rights of private property owners, particularly when it comes to the use of unmanned aerial vehicles to inspect facilities within utility easements.  Do utility companies need special language in their easements and right of way documents to permit drone use?  Or can they ignore their easements and use unmanned aerial systems however they choose so long as they comply with FAA regulations?  The answers, some of which are still developing,  on the facts of the case and the interplay between state and federal law and this is what Dan will discuss in his presentation.

Registration and lunch will begin at 11:45 a.m.
