Presenter:

Carlos Enrique Camey Marroquín, Grupo de Abogados

Carlos is an Attorney and Civil Law Notary in Guatemala. He became a partner of Grupode Abogados, a law firm based in Guatemala City, in 2013, and he currently leads the firm’s Corporate, Labor, and Tax divisions..

As a former consultant to the government of Guatemala City, he was involved in the drafting of the current Territorial Arrangement Plan, which establishes the rules for obtaining construction permits for developing large housing projects, high rises, and business centers. In that capacity, he also obtained extensive experience in local residence and business construction projects, environmental compliance, and communal dispute resolution.

Carlos was awarded the Dean’s Scholarship Award by the University of St. Thomas School of Law, where he is currently an LL.M. (US Law) candidate, focusing on corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate finance. In addition, he is part of the University of St. Thomas School of Law’s drafting team for the 2016 ABA Competition on Alternative Dispute Resolution.

Carlos has experience in the Central American legal market, including direct experience managing and leading cross-border transactions on behalf of multinational businesses and investors.
