Impact of Technology on Diversity and Inclusion in the Legal Profession  

Judge Peter Reyes, Minnesota Court of Appeals, will speak about technology and its impact on diversity and inclusion in the legal profession. Judge Reyes will focus on how technology can be used to drive change, overcome barriers, and eliminate bias within the legal profession.

This session will:

  • Review the status of diversity in the Minnesota legal profession, what the data shows, and how data technology can be used to in planning and decision making. The discussion will include real-life examples from the court of appeals.

  • Examine how technology can be a driver to improve diversity and increase inclusion, specifically discussing hybrid legal education programs and access to justice.

  • Teach you the benefits of diversity and inclusion: Why members of the legal profession should care about diversity and what they can do about it.

Presenter:
The Honorable Peter M. Reyes, Jr. is a judge on the Minnesota Court of Appeals. Prior to his appointment, Judge Reyes was a partner in the Intellectual Property Department at the law firm of Barnes & Thornburg LLP. He also worked as a Senior IP Lawyer at Cargill, Incorporated for 12 years and was an Associate at Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi.
