The electric industry is continuing to evolve
and the transmission sector is no exception. Please join us to hear three speakers from the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) address topics regarding comprehensive transmission system planning in the MISO footprint, recent changes to the interconnection queue process, and competitive transmission development consistent with FERC Order 1000.
Please join us for lunch beginning at Noon, followed by the program from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m.

Vikram Godbole,
Senior Manager, Resource Interconnection Planning at MISO, will address recently
proposed changes to the interconnection queue.
Godbole has over 16 years of
diverse experience in the electric utility industry, including Regional
Transmission Organizations, acquired by working for MISO, California ISO and PPL
Electric Utilities. He has been with MISO since 2005. Godbole started in the
Forward Operations group as a Senior Transmission Security Planning Engineer
where he was responsible for performing, and coordinating the Next Day
Reliability analyses with Real Timer Operations and the Day Ahead Market groups.
Godbole later transitioned to the Transmission Planning division where he was
responsible for managing the Long Term Transmission service queue from 2008 till
2010. For the past 5 years, Godbole has been managing the Generator
Interconnection Queue for the entire MISO footprint and also actively supporting
the recent Resource Adequacy initiatives.
Prior to joining MISO in
2005, Godbole worked at California ISO as a Bay Area Operations engineer and as
a Bulk Planning Engineer at PPL Electric Utilities. Godbole was responsible for
performing highly technical Planning and Operations studies that involved day to
day scenario analysis, development of long term generation operating guides,
international consulting assignments, generation portfolio optimization
analysis, Market Design, Outage Coordination, Summer Assessments and Bulk Power
planning.
Godbole holds a Bachelors and Master’s Degree in
Electrical Engineering. Godbole is also pursuing his CFA designation by taking
the Level II exam in 2016.
Rao Konidena is
a Principal Advisor at MISO and will address the transmission planning
process.
Konidena began his work with MISO
in the areas of resource adequacy and transmission planning . He and his team
developed demand side and clean technology options as alternatives to generation
in the 20 year long term transmission expansion planning process. Konidena
is currently involved in the development of a comprehensive approach towards
implementing state and federal policy objectives around increased penetration of
energy storage and renewables. Konidena has an MBA from the University of
Minnesota and MSEE (Master of Science in Electrical Engineering) from the
University of Texas at Arlington. Konidena is a member of Finnish American
Chamber of Commerce and volunteers at City of Roseville, Minnesota on the
Finance Commission.
Priti Patel
serves as the Regional Executive for North Region of MISO and will discuss the
competitive transmission development process consistent with FERC Order
1000.
In her role at MISO, Patel is responsible for customer and state
regulatory affairs for the North Region of MISO and competitive transmission
administration for the entire MISO footprint.
Previous to MISO, she was
employed by Xcel Energy in a variety of roles. At Xcel Energy, Patel
served as Assistant General Counsel, focusing on state and federal regulatory,
utility innovations and inventions to support the Company’s environmental
initiatives, transmission development and energy markets matters. She
served as the Company’s lead counsel over the CapX 2020 Transmission Expansion
Initiative - a joint initiative of 11 utilities in Minnesota and the surrounding
region to plan and construct 4 large transmission lines to ensure electric
reliability for years to come. Patel later served roles in operations as
the Director, Regional Transmission Development and Co-Executive Director for
CapX2020, Director, Strategic Transmission Initiatives and in corporate strategy
as Senior Director, Strategy & Planning.
Prior to joining Xcel Energy in
2005, Patel was an Assistant Attorney General at the Minnesota Office of
Attorney General in the Telecommunications and Energy Division. Prior to
joining the Minnesota Office of Attorney General in 1997, Patel was an attorney
with the law firm of Meagher & Geer in Minneapolis, primarily focusing on
construction and design related litigation.
Patel received her Juris Doctor
from Hamline University School of Law; and a Bachelor of Business Administration
- Personnel Management and Industrial Relations from the University of
Wisconsin-Madison. In 2004, she was awarded a Humphrey Institute Policy
Forum Fellowship from the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs.
