This CLE will explore evidentiary issues and the rules of civil procedure, as well as best practices regarding motions and witnesses at evidentiary hearings and trial.

Section will be holding their Annual Meeting and elections prior to the CLE at
9:30 a.m.

Court Referee
Susan Dickel Minsberg is a St. Paul lawyer who has been in
private practice for over 33 years. She handles a wide variety of litigation in
state and federal court in multiple areas of law including contracts, business,
real estate, family and employment. Susan chaired the Minnesota State Bar
Association solo-small firm section from 2011-2013 and is co-chairing the MSBA
Challenges to the Practice of Law Task Force. Susan graduated from University of
Wisconsin–Madison and received her J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law
School.
Rick Stebbins was appointed as a District Court Referee for
Hennepin County in January 2013. Prior to that he practiced family law for
about 20 years at twin cities firms, including Collins, Buckley, Sauntry &
Haugh and Stebbins & Hegranes. He graduated from William Mitchell
College of Law in 1993 and the University of St. Thomas in 1990. He served
as president of the Ramsey County Bar Association in 2012-2013.
