Deadline to Register: April 21,

Minnesota can boast expanding alternative
long-term care models, recent homecare law changes, and unique approaches to
housing with services. The abundance of long-term care options is
wonderful. But understanding the sometimes subtle distinctions among them
can present challenges for both consumers and practitioners.
A care environment may be a facility, but
the facility is also the consumer’s home, evoking a mixture of legal rights,
remedies, and conundrums related to the consumer being both a patient and
tenant, and the facility having identities as both a caregiver and landlord.
Sharpen your skills to answer questions and guide consumers through the legal
and strategic distinctions among nursing homes, assisted living, memory care,
residential group homes, and beyond at this upcoming CLE presented by the Elder
Law Section of the MSBA.
The CLE features a packed panel of
presenters, including frontline legal practitioners, providers, and industry
participants. The presenters will walk through three phases of long-term care in
facility/home settings: the admissions process and appropriate placement; the
provision of care, including assessments, care plans, and care disputes; and
considerations for discharge to home or another care provider.
Registration and breakfast will begin at 8:00
a.m. Breakfast buffet will include muffins, fruit, eggs, bacon, sausage,
hashed browns, sweet rolls, coffee, tea, and orange juice.
Presenters:
Suzanne
Scheller, Esq. (Attorney, Scheller Legal Solutions, LLC); Susan Voigt, Esq. (Attorney,
Voigt, Rodè & Boxeth, LLC); Laura Zdychnec, Esq. (Attorney, Long
Reher Hanson); Genevieve Gaboriault, Esq. (Senior Law Project, Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid);
