Limited Scope Engagement: Ethical Considerations and Best Practices

Event Description

Deadline to Register: January 13, 2015

Limited scope engagement requests are becoming more popular, as more clients seeking to economize their representation and take advantage of the ever-expanding array of self-represented litigant tools available through the courts and online. These arrangements require special ethical considerations separate from full representation cases. When executed effectively, limited scope engagements bring business to attorneys and help bridge the justice gap, by making crucial periods in a legal case affordable to clients who would otherwise not be able to afford full representation.

Patrick Burns will discuss best practices for ethical and effective limited scope engagements, covering the rules of professional responsibility and the recent disciplinary decision from the Minnesota Supreme Court, In re Petition for Disciplinary Action Against A.B. (Minn., 2014).

Lunch and registration will begin at 12:00 p.m.
