Laurie
Glapa (Stinson Leonard Street LLP), Patrick Pazderka and Jon Stechmann
(Oppenheimer Wolff & Donnelly LLP) will provide an introduction to open
source software and attendant legal issues. Today’s businesses (even those
outside the software and technology industry) are using free and open source
software in their products and services at an increasing rate. As counsel, it is
important to understand the risks and obligations associated with the use of
these free resources. This presentation will cover common open source licenses,
the role of open source software due diligence in M&A work, the need for
effective open source policies, and common open source issues in
contracts.
The
Computer and Technology Section Council will meet at 11:30 a.m. followed by
lunch and the CLE at Noon.
