The Medical Device Innovation Consortium (MDIC)

Event Description

Deadline to Register:  Tuesday, March 11, 2014

The Medical Device Innovation Consortium (MDIC) is the first ever public-private partnership with the sole objective of advancing medical device regulatory science. MDIC is the result of a partnership between FDA’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH), the National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, nonprofit organizations involved in medical and/or medical device research, development, treatment or education, or the promotion of public health, and companies in the medical device industry. In this seminar, MDIC President & CEO William Murray will share what we need to know about MDIC – what it is, what it has been doing, what’s coming up next, what companies should become involved, and how to participate. Margo Struthers, Partner at Oppenheimer Wolff & Donnelly LLP and legal counsel to MDIC will highlight some of the key legal issues relating to, or potentially relevant to, MDIC, including pursuit of tax-exempt status under IRC section 501(c)(3), antitrust issues related to industry collaboration, and potential conflict of interest issues for MDIC board members who wear multiple hats as representatives of government, industry and  non-profit organizations. We will also have time for questions and answers about the MDIC and its projects.

Registration and lunch will start at 11:45 followed by the CLE program from Noon - 1:30 p.m.

Special meal requests need to be received no later than Tuesday, March 11.
