It’s important for family law attorneys to understand what immigration relief
may be available to your client upon dissolution, as a person’s legal status in
the U.S. may change when the divorce is finalized. This is especially true when
there has been domestic or sexual abuse within the relationship. This
presentation will detail three immigration processes for family law attorneys to
keep in mind: the VAWA Self Petition, the Application to Remove Conditions on
your green card with the Abuse Waiver, and the Application for Employment
Authorization for Certain Abused Nonimmigrant Spouses.
