October 23, for the Public Utilities Law Section’s CLE with Senior State Energy
and Environment Advisor, Ellen Anderson.
Ellen Anderson will provide an update of current state energy policy
under Governor Mark Dayton and an overview of the Omnibus Energy Bill of 2013,
including the new solar mandate.
As senior advisor on
energy and environment to Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton, Ellen Anderson works
on energy, environmental policy issues, and public outreach for numerous state
agencies and the Governor. Ms.
Anderson served in the Minnesota Senate for eighteen years representing District
66, which included Falcon Heights and the northern portion of Saint Paul. While
serving in the legislature, Ms. Anderson authored numerous bills related to
energy and the environment. Ms.
Anderson also served as Chair of the Public Utilities Commission from 2011-2012.
Ellen Anderson holds a
B.A. from Carleton College and J.D. cum laude from the University of Minnesota
Law School. She was an Adjunct
faculty member at Metropolitan State University and the University of Minnesota,
teaching courses in law, energy, and sustainability. She is a member of the Advisory Board
for the U of Minnesota Joint Degree Program in Law, Health & the Life
Sciences. She has served in numerous leadership and community volunteer
positions and received dozens of awards for her leadership in energy,
environment, and economic and social justice
issues.
