**PLEASE
NOTE THAT THE MEETING WILL NOT BE HELD IN THE USUAL ROOM AT THE TOWN &
COUNTRY CLUB. WE HAVE BEEN MOVED TO THE PRESIDENT'S ROOM AT TOWN &
COUNTRY.**
Historically,
reimbursement audits tended to be driven by initiatives implemented as a
component of government health care programs. In recent years, however, commercial
payers have become increasingly active in instituting their own audit programs
to detect and prevent what they consider to be waste, fraud and abuse. While some of these programs use the
same approaches found in Medicare and Medicaid-driven audits, commercial payers’
audits are escalating in intensity and volume, and applying increasingly more
creative strategies. This session
will review the kinds of activities that can lead to audits by commercial
payors; review some of the tools used by payers to detect irregularities and
discuss how payers determine whether further scrutiny is warranted; discuss
strategies for responding to these audits; review options for working with
payers to resolve the issue; and consider what happens if a mutually agreeable
resolution cannot be reached.
Please join us for breakfast beginning at
7:30 a.m., followed by the program from 8:00 - 9:00 a.m.
