The Affordable Care Act has transformed key aspects of how health care is
delivered and paid for In Minnesota and other states. Its implementation has
created business opportunities and challenges for health plan companies and
provider systems. Using Minnesota data, the presentation will examine key trends
in finances and enrollment for health plans and financial metrics and inpatient
utilization trends for hospital systems. It will also describe the strategies
that health plans and provider systems in Minnesota and other states are
pursuing to capitalize on their opportunities and meet the challenges. A new
administration takes office later this month, promising to repeal and replace
the Affordable Care Act, possibly upending the careful plans of providers and
health plans. The presentation will end with some suggestions about how to
analyze possible changes in the next few years.
