This presentation is designed for attorneys who advise
county and local assessors in the area of property tax, private attorneys who
advise property owners on challenging assessed values of their property and any
attorney interested in property tax issues. Specifically, a Judge from the
Minnesota Tax Court will provide
an overview of issues that arise when a
property owner files a petition with the Minnesota Tax Court challenging
the
assessed
value of property. The overview will include unique
features of the Minnesota Tax Court, obligations of the parties and what to expect as you go through the process, including the Tax
Court Mediation Process, pre-trial issues and necessary filings, how to handle multiple tax years, appraisals, and if the matter goes to trial, limitations on testimony.
