Deadline to Register: April 11,
2016
Recognizing
that most of lawyers’ clients rely less and less on paper and more and more on
e-mail, text messages, Facebook, Twitter, and any number of social media
platforms, the Minnesota Rules of
Civil Procedure have been updated
to bring litigation into the
21st
Century. Whether
you represent individuals or companies—large, medium, or small—your clients are using digital
technology, and so should you. Learn how to make e-discovery work for
you and your clients, and learn why it’s the
right and ethical way to conduct litigation.
Lunch and registration will begin
at 12:00 p.m. The program will begin at 12:15
p.m.
Presenter:
David Miller has more than 20 years
experience as a litigator and trial attorney. He knows how to assess, build, and
resolve cases to the satisfaction of clients in challenging legal matters.
Throughout his career he has had a keen and abiding interest in the discovery
phase of lawsuits and investigations, and has focused on e-discovery since its
origins in the early 2000s. His interest in discovery started when he clerked
for a United States Magistrate Judge. There he learned how crucial discovery was
to the merits of a case, how pursuing the right strategy could pave the way to a
successful resolution, and how the wrong strategy could derail a case, sometimes
regardless of the merits. His interest continued to grow throughout his career
as a partner in large and small firms and as
an e-discovery consultant. The process has evolved from a paper based process
to a digital one, and he understands how
digital technology has forever changed the role that discovery has in
modern litigation. Developing his ability to hone the discovery process has
allowed him to increase the positive impact of this phase of a
case while making it less costly and
more efficient.
